FOCUS
Helping users express themselves without overthinking

about.
This project focused on helping users express themselves clearly during important emotional moments such as apologizing, celebrating, or sharing personal thoughts.
The goal was to reduce the pressure and uncertainty people feel when trying to find the right words, and guide them toward clear, meaningful communication.

the problem.
Many users struggle with emotional communication not because they don’t care, but because they don’t know what to say.
Key issues:
Emotional moments create pressure to “say it perfectly”
Users fear sounding awkward or being misunderstood
Writing from scratch feels overwhelming
Existing solutions rely on generic templates that feel impersonal
As a result, users delay or avoid meaningful conversations altogether.

what i found (audit thinking)
From a UX perspective, a few patterns stood out:
Users don’t lack emotion, they lack structure
The biggest friction is starting (blank page anxiety)
Too much freedom creates pressure instead of clarity
Users want guidance, but still want their voice to feel personal
The core issue wasn’t expression, it was the effort required to organize thoughts.

what i changed
The design focused on guiding users without taking control away from them:
1. Introduced guided expression flows
Replaced blank input with structured prompts
Asked simple questions (what happened, who it’s for, intended tone)
Helped users build messages step-by-step
2. Designed around user intent, not features
Structured the product around moments (Celebrate, Apologize, Toast, Express)
Matched how users naturally think during emotional situations
3. Reduced emotional pressure through simplicity
Kept the interface minimal and calm
Avoided overwhelming users with too many options
Focused on clarity over feature depth
4. Balanced AI assistance with user control
Used AI to support message generation, not replace the user
Allowed users to refine and personalize outputs
Ensured messages felt human, not automated
Each decision aimed to reduce hesitation and make expression feel easier and more natural.
